10 Things You "Don’t" Need to Start Your Creative Endeavor

Let’s clear the air: most people don’t fail because they lack skill—they fail because they never start. If God put something in you to release—a book, a blog, a business, a message—then here’s a liberating truth: you don’t need as much as you think you do.
In fact, here are 10 things you "don’t" need to get started:
1. Permission
You don’t need someone to open the gate when God already tore the veil. If He called you, then your “yes” is 100% your responsibility. In fact, the Lord dealt with me in no uncertain terms about this whole “Ready Writer” thing. I felt the Lord saying, “If I appeared to you in the flesh, would that be enough to provoke you to action?” I believe His point was clear. It shouldn’t take a burning bush to get things moving. But He’s also proven through His Word that if that’s what it takes, He’ll do it.
2. Validation
You don’t need likes to launch. Stop waiting for people to cheer you on in what Heaven has already commissioned in your heart.
3. More Money
God is not limited by your bank account. Some of the most Spirit-filled, impactful, punchy creativity was born out of nothing but faith.
4. More Time
Start small. Ten intentional minutes is better than ten unfulfilled months.
5. More Knowledge
You don’t need to know everything. Just take the next right step. Revelation is the natural outflow of obedience.
6. Better Circumstances
If you’re waiting for calm seas, you will likely never set sail. Move in the midst of the storm with the wind of the Spirit at your back!
7. A College Degree
You don’t need perfect grammar to write something that changes lives. Make it your mission to write out of the fire of revelation. Some of the most prolific writers you know utilize the best editors.
8. A Big Platform
Jesus changed the world with 12 followers. Don’t despise your reach—just be faithful with it.
9. Fancy Equipment
Just like God told Moses, “Use what’s in your hand.” Use what you’ve got. What’s in your hand is more than enough when Heaven is on it.
10. Man’s Approval
Not everyone will understand your calling. In Hebrews 11, we find “the hall of faith”—the who’s who of the Bible. Every person on that list had haters. Jesus Himself to this very day, has haters. That’s okay—spread your message and find your tribe.
One Final Thought:
Clarity follows obedience. Don’t wait for perfect conditions to get started—your “yes” is where it starts. Your daily, continued “yes” is the only thing separating you from where you are right now to where you want to be!
